Jørn Holme

Jørn Holme was born 1959. He lives in Oslo, is married and has three children. Holme has a degree in law from the University of Oslo in 1986. After military conscription service he was Police Chief Superintendent at Senja and Harstad in 1988 to 1990. He was acting county court judge at Trondenes District Court and then acting Judge at Oslo City Court in 1991, and the Chief Public Prosecutor at the Economic Crime Division from 1991 to 2001. Holme was Advocate General of the Armed Forces in 2001 before becoming Secretary of State in the Ministry of Justice for Minister Odd Einar Dørum. He then became Chief of the Police Security Service (PST) until 2009. Jørn Holme is the editor and lead author of the book collection of The Cultural Heritage Act, Public management and Law Enforcement (1st ed. 2001, 2nd ed., 2004). Holme was awarded the Communication Prize for 2007 by the Norwegian Communication Society. He was a board member of “The society for the Preservation of Norwegian Ancient Monuments” in the period 2006-2009. Jørn Holme took up the post of Director General of the Directorate for Cultural Heritage (Riksantikvaren) in October 23, 2009.
