Nadežda Goryczková graduated from the Faculty of Architecture at the Brno University of Technology in 1986. She worked at the National Heritage Institute, Regional Office in Ostrava, from 1987. She became head of the building archaeology department and later of the filing and documentation unit. Following the merger of all independent heritage institutes as of 1 January 2003 into a single expert institution, the National Heritage Institute, Nadežda Goryczková was appointed Director of the Institute’s Regional Office in Ostrava. In 2008, she was appointed Director General of the National Heritage Institute by the Minister of Culture and since then has been pursuing the path of modernisation and greater openness at the expert conservation institution. In parallel, she has been cooperating with the Faculty of Arts at the University of Ostrava as an external lecturer since 1997. She publishes articles regularly in specialist journals, in particular regarding modern architecture and industrial heritage.
