Hanna Geiran (born 1969) is Director General of the Directorate for Cultural Heritage in Norway (Riksantikvaren). She graduated from the Oslo School of Architecture in 1997 and started her professional life as an architect in different firms. In 2005 she joined the Directorate for Cultural Heritage. She has held different responsibilities within the Directorate:  Since 2013 Head of Section for Protection and Development of Buildings and Green Areas, since 2014  Head of Department for Buildings, Monuments and Sites and since October 2018 Director General.  Until 2018 she was a member of the Norwegian delegation for ICCROM.  Hanna Geiran is Head of the Norwegian delegation to the World Heritage Committee. The Directorate for Cultural Heritage promotes the conservation, use, enjoyment and development of cultural heritage. In addition to working to provide various forms of protection, Hanna Geiran also wants to ensure that climate and environmental considerations are taken properly into account in the management and maintenance of cultural heritage. As an architect Hanna Geiran promotes re-use and transformation of buildings as a contribution towards achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement.
